Over RM100,000 in crypto mining assets seized in Kota Kinabalu electricity theft raid


KOTA KINABALU: More than RM100,000 worth of cryptocurrency mining assets, including electric cables and equipment used to illegally tap the power supply, were seized during an integrated raid at a premise in the city.

According to a statement from the Energy Commission of Sabah, the joint operation with Sabah Electricity and the police was carried out on Wednesday (July 15).

The July 22 statement said that no suspect has been remanded as probes continue under various offences under the Electric Supply Enactment 2024.

Sabah Electricity estimated RM15,000 of unbilled power usage per month from this activity.
