KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) has recorded seizures worth more than RM77mil across 862 cases since 2023.
Its director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri (pic) said the success was achieved through integrated operations.
He said that among the items prevented from being smuggled out of the country were diesel, petrol, sugar, flour, cooking oil and liquefied petroleum gas.
"The department is one of the key departments in the Police, with about 25,000 officers and personnel carrying out duties across air, land and maritime domains," he told a press conference after the closing ceremony of the 2026 KDNKA Obstacle Course Challenge at the Central Brigade General Operations Force firing range here on Wednesday (July 22).
Earlier, he was asked to comment on the department's long-term plans to address security issues along the country's borders.
Comm Mohd Yusri said anti-smuggling operations cover the northern border of Peninsular Malaysia and the east coast, including Kelantan and the Sungai Golok area, up to Padang Besar in Perlis.
He said similar operations were also being carried out in Sabah and Sarawak through the Sabah Brigade and Sarawak Brigade.
"The department will continue to support the government's efforts by carrying out all planned initiatives to combat crime and enforce the country's laws in accordance with the relevant legislation," he said.
