SEASONED actress and singer Ieda Moin has decried “disproportionate” payment offers, revealing that she was recently quoted as little as RM500 for a one-hour episode role despite 30 years in the industry, Harian Metro reported.

Ieda, 47, whose real name is Siti Haida Abd Moin, said the low offer felt like a step back to 2006.

“It hurts my heart. We used to think this industry was very lively, but now we have to deal with prices that are not appropriate,” she said at the press conference for the drama Ate Kome, I Love You.

She stressed that artistes have rate cards and standards, but said some peers accepting rock-bottom fees were undermining market prices.

Ieda added that the issue was less about budget constraints and more about a bias between senior artistes and new talents, citing tighter wardrobe allowances without sponsors.

Asked if she was discouraged, she admitted that it hurt her.

> About 600 residents of Taman Wangsa Mewangi in Gua Musang, Kelantan, were surprised by the presence of two elephants roaming in their housing area and damaging crops early Sunday morning, Kosmo! reported.

A resident recorded the incident at about 2am.

Azizul Rahman Hamzah, 50, said it was the first time he had seen an elephant at close range in the five years he had lived in the housing estate.

“The elephants were only about 100m away from my house and about 500m from Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis.

“I hope immediate action can be taken because we are concerned about the safety of the residents,” he said.

Another resident, Mah Swee Ha, 65, was shocked when she was informed that the elephants got to about 20m from her house.

She said she was asleep at the time and only found out later of the damage to the coconut plants near her house.
