No nomination papers rejected for Negri polls, says EC


SHAH ALAM: No nomination papers were rejected during the nomination process for the 16th Negri Sembilan state election which took place across eight nomination centres on Saturday (July 18).

The Election Commission stated that after the submission period closed at 10am, a total of 103 candidates representing various political parties and independent individuals were confirmed eligible to contest.

"A total of 103 nomination papers were received and confirmed eligible to contest for the 16th Negri Sembilan state election. No nomination papers were rejected," the commission said in a statement on Saturday.

The commission informed that out of the total number, Pakatan Harapan is fielding 36 candidates, followed by Barisan Nasional with 25 candidates.

Additionally, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has placed 24 candidates while Perikatan Nasional is featuring 11 candidates.

The commission also noted that one candidate each will represent Barisan Jemaah Islamiah SeMalaysia, Parti Orang Asli Malaysia and Parti Sosialis Malaysia, alongside four candidates contesting as independents.

Overall, the 103 candidates were officially confirmed to contest in the 16th Negri Sembilan state election after the nomination process concluded smoothly at all eight nomination centres in the state on Saturday.
