SEREMBAN: All eight nomination centres for the 16th Negri Sembilan State Election closed at 10am on Saturday (July 18), marking the end of the one-hour nomination process which began at 9am.
The announcement of the closure was made by the respective Returning Officers at the nomination centres.
With the conclusion of the nomination process, the 14-day Negri Sembilan state election campaign begins today and will run until 11.59pm on July 31, as set by the Election Commission (EC).
Earlier, supporters of the contesting candidates began gathering at all nomination centres as early as 7am, with the nomination process proceeding smoothly under good weather conditions.
According to the EC electoral roll updated on June 4, 2026, a total of 889,490 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the Negri Sembilan state election, comprising 867,151 ordinary voters and 22,339 early voters, made up of 16,884 military personnel and spouses and 5,455 police personnel.
The EC has fixed Aug 1 as polling day for the Negri Sembilan state election, while early voting will be held on July 28. - Bernama
