Perikatan welcomes court decision, shifts focus to Melaka polls, says Dr Sam

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional has welcomed the High Court's decision to suspend a Registrar of Societies (ROS) notice concerning the coalition's deregistration, saying it will now shift its focus to the upcoming Melaka state election.

Perikatan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar expressed gratitude over the court's decision on Thursday (Oct 22), describing it as a positive development in the coalition's efforts to defend its rights through legal channels.

"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the High Court's decision today to suspend the ROS notice concerning Perikatan's deregistration.

"Our position is clear. We are on the right track in defending our rights through legal channels.

"Attempts by those seeking to erase Perikatan will not weaken our resolve.

“Perikatan remains steadfast and our struggle will continue," he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

Ahmad Samsuri also thanked the coalition's supporters and legal team for their continued support and efforts.

He said Perikatan would continue to respect the ongoing legal process while firmly defending its rights.

With the court decision, Ahmad Samsuri said the coalition's election machinery must now turn its full attention to preparations for the Melaka state election.

"All election machinery must now focus fully on the Melaka state polls.

"Strengthen preparations, enhance cooperation and present the best possible offer to the people. We will continue moving forward," he said.
