‘Prioritise political stability’

Job creation, economic growth key issues, say MCA candidates

SEREMBAN: Johor voters chose stability over politicking, and Negri Sembilan should do the same as political stability is the foundation for economic growth, investor confidence and quality job creation, say Barisan Nasional’s MCA candidates.

The candidates said the recent Johor state election showed that voters were increasingly prioritising development, responsible governance and practical solutions over political infighting.

“Stability is the foundation for sustained growth, investor confidence, quality job creation and continuous infrastructure development.

“A stable government gives businesses the confidence to invest, creates more opportunities for young people and ensures development policies are implemented consistently,” they said in a joint statement yesterday.

The seven MCA candidates are state chairman Datuk Leaw Kok Chan (Temiang), Yap Siok Moy (Rahang), Koh Kim Swee (Repah), Alan Lai (Nilai), Siow Kong Choon (Chennah), Chong Fui Ming (Bahau) and Pau Jeou Ching (Chuah).

They said Negri Sembilan, with its strategic location and strong base in manufacturing, logistics, tourism and agriculture, had the potential to attract high-value investments and accelerate its digital economy.

If elected, the candidates pledged to work towards turning the state into one of the peninsula’s leading growth centres, with quality jobs, better infrastructure and more opportunities for young people to remain in the state.

They also pledged to work with the Barisan-led state government to upgrade roads, public transport and public amenities, strengthen drainage and flood mitigation measures, improve urban planning and attract high-value industries.

The candidates said the election was about more than just choosing assemblymen, as it would determine the direction of Negri Sembilan for the next five years.

“The people deserve a government that remains focused on governing, honours its commitments and resolves issues affecting their daily lives,” they said.

They added that MCA would continue serving as a bridge between the people, the business community and Malaysia’s diverse communities, ensuring that economic progress was “shared by every community across the state”.
