KUALA LUMPUR: Law enforcement plays a vital role in safeguarding the sanctity of religion, curbing the spread of deviant teachings and addressing extremism and militancy that could threaten national security says Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said enforcement efforts must be firmly grounded in the rule of law and supported through strategic cooperation among enforcement agencies, religious institutions, academics and the wider community.
"Such collaboration is essential to ensure the country's peace, stability and social harmony continue to be preserved," he said during the Sustainability of Nusantara Islamic Thought 2026 seminar in Kuching, Sarawak, recently, which was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
The seminar focused on strengthening moderate Islamic thought, enhancing understanding of Islamic creed and addressing extremist ideologies to preserve harmony in Malaysia's multiracial society.
Also present were Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha, Sabah Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar, Sarawak Jakim director Hamdan Jar'ee, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department director Mual Suaud, as well as senior leaders from federal and state government agencies.
