'I'll repay voters' trust with action', says Bekok rep in pledging to continue pushing for infra upgrades

BEKOK: Fresh from securing a second consecutive term, Bekok assemblyman Tan Chong has pledged to continue pushing for infrastructure upgrades, particularly estate roads, saying he would repay voters' trust with action.

The Barisan Nasional candidate retained the Bekok seat after polling 7,036 votes to defeat Pakatan Harapan's Tay Yok Jiuen, who garnered 3,467 votes, giving him a majority of 3,569.

Thanking constituents for returning him to office, Tan said every handshake during the campaign and every vote cast represented a trust he would always remember.

"Thank you to the people of Bekok for entrusting me with this responsibility once again.

"Words alone are not enough. From today onwards, I will honour my promises through action, repay your trust through service and meet your expectations with results," he said when met.

Tan cited the recently secured RM1.39mil allocation to upgrade the 3.8km road linking Bekok to Chan Wing Estate as an example of delivering on promises made to residents.

He said work on the project had already begun just days ago and was expected to be completed in August.

"The road upgrade addressed a long-standing request from the local community.

"This is why I have always believed that action carries more weight than promises, and results speak louder than slogans," he said.

Tan said he would continue pursuing the upgrading of estate roads and other infrastructure projects throughout Bekok to improve connectivity and the quality of life for residents.

He also thanked his campaign machinery, volunteers, supporters, family and friends for standing by him throughout the election campaign, saying their dedication had made the victory possible.

Calling for unity after the polls, Tan urged residents to put the election behind them and work together for Bekok's development over the next five years.

"I will continue to be a representative for everyone, listening to every voice and doing my utmost to secure more development and provide better services for the people.

"I will continue walking alongside the people of Bekok and will not disappoint the trust that has been placed in me," he said.
