GPS confirms no candidates selected for upcoming Sarawak state election due in April 2027

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has not made decisions on candidates for the upcoming Sarawak state election, says Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The GPS spokesman said there were claims that coalition candidates had been proposed.

"GPS wishes to clarify that no potential candidates have been decided by Sarawak's ruling coalition," he said in a statement on Monday (July 6).

However, he added that GPS viewed it as a sign of support for the coalition.

The next Sarawak state election is due by April 2027.

GPS currently holds 80 of the 82 seats in the state legislative assembly.
