Illegal Rohingya school raided

ALOR SETAR: An industrial premises allegedly being used as a school for Rohingya children at the Shahab Perdana Commercial Complex here has been raided by the Alor Setar City Council (MBAS).

Mayor Datuk Abdul Gafar Yahya said the operation was carried out following claims on social media about the existence of a facility being used as a school for the Rohingya community.

“The raid was conducted by the MBAS Enforcement Division and the Development Planning Depart­­ment to verify the information and assess compliance with existing regulations,” he said.

Each student was charged a monthly fee of RM100.
