> Sinar Harian reported that an elderly man who was puzzled by strange noises coming from his ceiling for two days was surprised to discover they were caused by a trapped Muscovy duck.
The 70-year-old, who lives in Kampung Baung Bayam, Kelantan, initially suspected a snake or monitor lizard before contacting the authorities.
Kota Baru Civil Defence Force personnel later safely removed the duck, which is believed to belong to a neighbour.
“The domesticated animal is believed to have flown into the house and sought shelter after being startled by cleaning works being carried out near the complainant’s home,” said officer Mejar (PA) Mohd Arif Mohd Zin.
> Also in Kota Baru, Harian Metro reported that a former chief executive officer of a food delivery platform is rebuilding his life after suffering from financial hardship following major losses at his company.
Indera Aria Wee Jeeny, 40, said the company, established in 2019, once generated profits of up to RM6mil and managed about 3,000 active delivery riders across Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.
However, the business began to decline in 2021, forcing him to sell personal assets to pay staff salaries.
“It wasn’t easy to get back on my feet because when I first fell, I had to dig for coins just to buy food,” he said.
Now working as a food delivery rider, Indera said he regularly helps stranded motorists and families in need, drawing on his own experience of hardship.
