ALOR GAJAH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim credited civil servants for Malaysia's improved standing in the 2026 World Competitiveness Ranking.
The list was published by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
He said the achievement had drawn praise from Turkmenistan President, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Anwar noted that Malaysia climbed eight places to 15th position in the ranking, up from 23rd last year.
"Our performance over the past three and a half years is not because Anwar is the Prime Minister but rather because of the system, the team and our civil servants.
"President Serdar mentioned that Malaysia had performed very well in the World Competitiveness Index and I thanked him, but I know this happened because of our civil servants," he said when addressing civil servants from the southern zone at the Public Works Department's Centre of Excellence for Engineering and Technology (CREaTE) in Simpang Ampat here on Wednesday (June 24).
Anwar said the efficiency and quality of service are not the result of his efforts alone, but of the entire team throughout the nation.
He said the country's improved ranking reflected the strength of the public service and the collective efforts of civil servants in delivering efficient and effective services to the people.
The IMD World Competitiveness Ranking measures the ability of economies to create and sustain an environment that supports business competitiveness and long-term prosperity.
