Workshop owner dies in forklift repair accident


MUAR: A workshop owner was killed on the spot in a freak accident after he was stuck while repairing a forklift on Thursday (June 18).

Muar Fire and Rescue station chief Sharizal Mohtar said the case took place at a workshop in Batu 7, Bakri industrial area near here, adding that authorities were still investigating the cause of the incident.

“We received an emergency call on the incident at 9.32am and our men arrived at the site located about 12km from our station at 9.34am,’’ he said.

Sharizal said the rescue team, assisted by a foreman at the workshop, used special equipment to retrieve the victim.

“The victim was identified as 37-year-old Pui Wei Han, the owner of the workshop, who was pronounced dead by a Health Ministry medical team,’’ he added.

Sharizal said the operation led by operation commander senior office I Misholifadzil Mohd with seven firemen from the Muar Fire and Rescue station ended at 10.07am.
