A SINGLE mother has to take on two jobs to pay for her 11-year-old son’s life-saving surgery, reported Kosmo!.
Jamilah Ali, 53, said her youngest child, Muhammad Azan Qalis, suffers from the rare genetic disorder Crouzon Syndrome, which causes a narrowing of the airway, and is slowly limiting his ability to breathe.
The mother of five said her son requires immediate surgery, which is estimated to cost RM50,000.
“However, I am unable to afford the surgery scheduled at Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” she told the daily when met at her home at Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.
Jamilah, who earns about RM1,500 a month operating a food stall, said she has also taken on part-time work as an e-hailing driver to supplement her income, but it is still not enough.

Resident Afendi Ahmad, 48, said the bear entered his home’s compound twice, most recently last Friday.
“While I was inside my house, I watched the animal damage two coconut trees to eat the palm hearts.
“The sun bear also used the water stored in a container located in the yard of my house to bathe.”
Latif Othman, 68, said villagers have observed the bear wandering near SMK Datuk Awang Jabar while searching for food.
“As parents, we are worried about the safety of children staying in the school hostel.”
