A SINGLE mother who lost most of her belongings in a house fire received much needed assistance to help rebuild her family’s life, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The fire was believed to have started in one of the rooms at Rumah Pangsa Impian in Saujana Putra, Selangor, where Amelia Kala lived with her five children.

It spread rapidly and engulfed the entire home.

MIC Saujana Putra chief S. Kumaran said the family has been relocated to a temporary accommodation with assistance from MIC and Kuala Langat Barisan Nasional leader Datuk Zurihan Yusop.

The family was also provided with assistance to purchase clothing and other essentials.

Kuala Langat MIC chief R. Sritharan, who visited the family, pledged to provide further assistance.

MIC and Barisan will work with local authorities and government agencies, including the Welfare Department, to help the family get back on their feet, the leaders said.
