Rescued hiker expected to be discharged soon
TAPAH: Jaslinda Saludin, who is receiving treatment at Tapah Hospital here, says she wants to recover and be discharged as soon as possible so that she can return to work and attend her son’s convocation ceremony.
Jaslinda, who lost almost 10kg in the 14 days she went missing during a hike, conveyed this to Perak communications, multimedia and NGO committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi, who visited her yesterday.
“Although there is a slight injury to her leg, I am confident that in a few days she will be able to go out and continue her life as usual,” said Mohd Azlan, who was accompanied by Tapah Hospital director Dr Wan Immi Salim.
Meanwhile, Dr Wan Immi reported that the 49-year-old climber was in stable condition, alert and communicating well.
“Her leg is in a cast due to the injuries suffered but God willing, she will recover quickly with rehabilitation and treatment,” she said when met by reporters at the hospital yesterday.
She also noted that a physical examination revealed several injuries sustained during Jaslinda’s time lost in the forest.
Asked about Jaslinda’s emotional state, Dr Wan Immi said she showed high spirits and a positive attitude, which was the main factor in her quick recovery, Bernama reported.
Last Saturday, Jaslinda was found in a weakened state near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh, at about 5pm by several Orang Asli residents.
She was reported missing while participating in the Trans Spencer Chapman hike on May 23 via the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh route with 13 individuals and two forestry mountain guides.
