PETALING JAYA: PAS has urged the government to explain the postponement of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s pardon application.
Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (pic) referred to Friday's (Sept 11) statement by the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department on the 63rd Pardons Board meeting for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.
The meeting on Friday was chaired by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

In a statement on Monday (Sept 14), Takiyuddin said the division also stated that the King had consented for Najib’s pardon application to be deferred to a future Pardons Board meeting.
"PAS believes the postponement of Najib’s application before the board would not have happened on its own unless there had been instructions and/or objections from certain parties, whether from among the board members or other interested third parties," Takiyuddin said.
He said the government should, therefore, explain the circumstances surrounding the postponement.
"This is a matter of public interest which should not be kept from the people," he added.
