Perak cops express appreciation to all involved in SAR for missing hiker

IPOH: Perak police have expressed their appreciation to all agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), volunteers, members of the Orang Asli community and the public who assisted in the search for missing hiker Jaslinda Saludin, who was found safe on Friday.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the 49-year-old woman was discovered conscious in Kampung Lubuk Geharu, Pos Musoh, Tapah, by Orang Asli villager Nazri Eng.

He said the Tapah district police headquarters received information on the discovery through the MERS 999 emergency line at about 4.55pm Saturday (June 6).

“Jaslinda was taken to Nazri’s home to receive initial assistance while police verified the discovery and arranged further action, including a medical examination.

“Following her safe recovery, the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which began on May 24 after she went missing while hiking at Gunung Batu Putih, was officially called off,” he said in a statement issued Saturday.

He said the cooperation and commitment shown by all parties were instrumental in ensuring the operation’s success.
