SEREMBAN: The four Negri Sembilan ruling chiefs (Undang) and the Tunku Besar Tampin strongly object to the move by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to dissolve the state assembly and want the move reversed.
The five, in a letter through a law firm addressed to state Speaker Datuk MK Ibrahim Abd Rahman, said their consent was not sought before the dissolution was announced.
"Our clients … state their strong objection to the announcement of the dissolution of the state assembly by the Mentri Besar.
"No consent was sought from our clients on the said dissolution," read the letter, adding this was against provisions in Articles 28(1) and (2), 38(4), 56(2) of the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan.
They also said if the dissolution was not reversed, it could lead to legal implications, including the legitimacy of the elections.
The law firm said the ruling chiefs and Tunku Besar Tampin want the state Speaker to take immediate measures to correct the situation.
The ruling chiefs are Undang Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang Johol, Datuk Muhammed Abdullah; Undang Rembau Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin, Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri.
Datuk Mubarak Dohak was the former Undang Sungei Ujong but he was removed in Apri. He is however challenging his removal.
