Boy drowns in PD pool

PORT DICKSON: A four-year-old boy, who came for a holiday here from Johor with his family, drowned after he fell into a swimming pool at a private apartment.

Port Dickson OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib said the incident happened around 5.30pm on Thursday (June 4) when the victim came down to the pool with his mother and three siblings.

"The victim's older brother saw him falling into the pool and a member of the public immediately jumped in and pulled him out.

"The victim's mother then rushed him to hospital but he was pronounced dead by doctors around 10.30pm," he said.

DSP Ruslan said the victim and his family had travelled from Johor and were staying overnight at the property located along Jalan Pantai.

A post-mortem examination confirmed drowning as the cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

He advised parents and guardians to closely supervise their children during activities at swimming pools and beaches to prevent similar tragedies.
