KUALA LUMPUR: The involvement of all parties, including parents and the community, is among the key factors in ensuring the success of the nation’s education direction over the next decade through the Malaysia Education Plan (RPM) 2026–2035, says Fadhlina Sidek.

In a Facebook post Sunday (May 31), the Education Minister said strong commitment and support from all parties are essential, particularly in facing the implementation of new preschool and school curricula next year.

“The implementation of the new preschool curriculum has already begun, and the expansion of preschool classes is being actively carried out nationwide. Next year, we will begin a new school curriculum involving Year One and Form One pupils.

“All of this will only succeed with the strong commitment and support of all parties, including parents and the community. For example, the reading sessions introduced for preschool children require parents to commit time to reading with their children. The same applies to other initiatives that require everyone’s co-operation,” she said.

Earlier, Fadhlina attended a session with educators, Parents and Teachers Associations (PIBG), as well as the Parents, Community and Private Sector Involvement (PIBKS) for the Ayer Molek and Pengkalan Batu areas in Melaka.

At the session, she said Melaka should use its strong performance in last year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination as a springboard to go further and strengthen the education ecosystem in the state.

She also presented allocations totalling RM280,000 to upgrade teachers’ rooms, benefiting 13 schools.

“May the initiative to upgrade teachers’ rooms in schools provide comfort to teachers and, in turn, encourage them to give their best in carrying out the trust of educating children,” she said. — Bernama
