Plumber charged after allegedly setting car ablaze in Cheras

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man after he allegedly destroyed a car by burning it in Cheras.

The incident on Aug 31 led to the arrest of a 62-year-old plumber within 24 hours of the incident.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said police found and seized one bottle of clear liquid suspected to be thinner in the boot of the car, believed to have been used as an accelerant in the fire.

“No police records were found linked to the suspect.

However, an initial urine screening test found that he tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 6).

Comm Mohd Rosdi added that the suspect has since been charged at the Kuala Lumpur court, where he pleaded not guilty.
