Toddler injured in attack by stray dogs outside Batu Pahat home


BATU PAHAT: A two-year-old girl suffered injuries to almost her entire body after she was attacked by a pack of dogs believed to be strays in Peserai here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident was believed to have occurred at about 7am on Saturday (Sept 5) in front of the victim’s family home.

“Initial investigations found that the victim, aged two years and 10 months, was in front of her house when she was attacked by a pack of stray or abandoned dogs in the area.

“The attack left the girl injured on almost her entire body,” he said here on Sunday (Sept 6)

ACP Shahrulanuar added that the victim was initially taken by her family to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail here for examination and treatment.

“However, the victim has been transferred to Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Baru for further treatment,” he said.

ACP Shahrulanuar added that the police were investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 289 of the Penal Code.
