Kajang car chase ends in crash, woman nabbed, driver escaped


KAJANG: A police chase led to the arrest of a woman after she and an accomplice refused to stop during an inspection.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the chase, which occurred on Saturday (Sept 5), started after the car refused to comply with orders to stop.

It then sped off towards Semenyih before finally being stopped along Jalan Reko following a road accident with another vehicle.

"The male driver, who was a foreign national, managed to escape, while a woman in the front passenger seat was arrested.

"A search found three transparent plastic packets containing crystal powder suspected to be syabu, weighing approximately 2.13g.

"The car was also seized to assist in investigations,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 6).

Comm Naazron said further checks on the female suspect showed that she did not possess any valid travel documents.

He added that she has been remanded for four days to assist investigations,

"Police are currently tracing the driver who fled and conducting further investigations to determine ownership of the seized drugs,” he said.
