308 Sungai Buloh students receive RM113,500 in higher education aid

SUNGAI BULOH: A total of 308 students in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency received Higher Education Institution (IPT) Initial Study Aid amounting to RM113,500.

The students, who are at various levels of study, including foundation, matriculation, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), diploma, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) certificate and bachelor's degree programmes, received the aid from the Political Secretary to the Human Resources Minister, Aizuddin Abd Gaffal (pic), at a ceremony held here on Saturday (Sept 5).

It was held in conjunction with the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) Care Carnival.

One of the recipients, Muhammad Shafitri Suzaiman Muhamad Fazli, 18, said he would use the aid to help his parents pay the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) fees and purchase study workbooks.

"This aid is a great help to my family and me, " said the Form Six student of SMK Bukit Gading.

Another recipient, Soong Xin U, 18, said she would use the aid to purchase workbooks and reference materials to help her prepare for the STPM examination.

Meanwhile, the PTPK Care Carnival featured a PTPK information counter, an Unclaimed Money counter, "Jualan Rahmah", health screenings, oil change services, haircuts, fitness activities and fun games.

The carnival also featured firefighting exhibitions and demonstrations, a cultural exhibition, a blood donation drive, a "Santai PTPK" session, food trucks, a surau-focused corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, as well as free coffee and ice cream. – Bernama
