KLIA’s 24-hour Aerotrain service resumes on June 1

PUTRAJAYA: The Aerotrain service at KL International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA1) will resume round-the-clock service starting Monday (June 1).

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the full 24-hour operations will resume following the completion of a comprehensive action plan implemented by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) in coordination with Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) and verified by independent railway assessors.

“Daily engineering hours from 12am to 5am will be maintained, as part of ongoing sustainable maintenance and engineering oversight.

“During this period, a single train will continue serving passengers while routine inspection and maintenance activities are carried out,” he said in a statement.

He added that the comprehensive action plan, undertaken since November 2025, covered three structured stages: inspection and rectification works, system testing and validation and trial operations.

He said endurance testing, which involved continuous two-train operations, was also conducted over 24-hour and 48-hour periods under both passenger and non-passenger conditions.

He said MAHB reported that since January this year, the Aerotrain has recorded 100% operational service availability.

Loke said the ministry, through Apad, would continue to exercise regulatory oversight over the Aerotrain’s operations, ensuring that MAHB continues to operate the facility in a safe and reliable manner.
