Fans concerned, but Ashin shrugs off falls on stage

THE frontman of Taiwanese rock band Mayday, Ashin, suffered a string of falls during the band’s recent shows in Beijing, sparking concern among fans, reported China Press.

The 50-year-old and his bandmates were performing a 12-show run at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary.

On May 19, Ashin and the others were performing on a stage prop resembling a bus when Ashin lost his balance and fell on his back, prompting screams from fans.

Luckily, he managed to grab a railing, preventing himself from falling off the vehicle all-together.

“Falling isn’t good. Only idiots fall,” he joked after the fall.

This was the third time Ashin has fallen mid-performance during the shows.

After the concert, many fans expressed their concerns on social media for Ashin’s condition.

“He stood up immediately without hesitation, ignored the pain, and kept singing. It was honestly heartbreaking to watch,” one fan wrote.

Mayday made their debut in 1999 and remains one of the best-selling rock bands in the Chinese-speaking world.
