A VAN driver and his wife have embarked on a 650km journey on foot, hoping to meet actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay who became the new chief minister of India’s Tamil Nadu state on May 10.
Muhammad Rafee and Ummu Hashanamol are from the neighbouring southern state of Kerala.
Both are ardent fans of Vijay, 51, who is said to be one of India’s highest paid actors.
After Vijay’s TVK party won the most seats in the state assembly and formed the state government, the couple began walking from their home state with the mission to congratulate him.
They have been carrying their own tent, sleeping bags and other essentials and setting up camp along the way.
The couple said they have not been given any invitation or appointment to meet with Vijay but they are confident that they would be welcomed and given an opportunity to see him.
