Selangor PBM members quit because 'promises never materialised', says Sng

PETALING JAYA: The decision by some Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) members in Selangor to quit the party was due to their failure to secure positions in local councils and government-linked companies (GLCs) in the state administration, says its president Datuk Larry Sng.

Sng, who is also Julau MP, said that despite promises given by the state leadership, Selangor PBM had not been able to secure further support from the Pakatan Harapan-led state government, even while continuing to work alongside it.

“During my time, PBM leaders were invited to events and were given some degree of recognition.

“However, since I left the Selangor leadership, Selangor PBM has not been able to secure further support despite continuing to work alongside them (Pakatan Harapan).

“After their meeting with Selangor Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari), the state leaders were promised positions in local councils and GLCs, which never materialised.

“Since they are unable to expand their network and are financially unstable, they have decided to leave for greener pastures,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 20).

It was reported that several PBM leaders at the state and division levels had tendered their resignations yesterday.

Among those were Petaling Jaya PBM chairman Danish Firas and Selangor PBM secretary Krishna Govinth.

Meanwhile, Sng said PBM was holding divisional-level annual general meetings (AGMs), which are scheduled to be concluded by the end of the month, and would organise the national-level AGM in early July.

He added that since the departure of Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, he had restructured PBM in Selangor with the establishment of seven divisions, namely Klang, Kota Raja, Bangi, Sepang, Puchong, Subang and Petaling Jaya, with a total registered membership of 448 members in these divisions.

He also thanked the PBM members for their time and service.

“If they want to use me as a scapegoat to promote their standing with Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, then go ahead. That is the least I can do for them.

“In general, politics is not straightforward, and along the way, people will be disappointed. Since they were not popular in PBM, let them try their luck in a new PBM (Parti Bersama Malaysia),” he said.
