12 bodies found, two still missing from boat sinking


IPOH: The bodies of 12 victims from a boat that sank in waters near Pangkor Island have been recovered so far, with two more still missing.

A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) spokesperson said two bodies were found yesterday.

“The male victim was found 5.6 nautical miles from the island. The female victim was found about 31.5 nautical miles from where the boat is believed to have capsized,” the spokesperson said in a statement yesterday.

On Monday, a boat with 37 undocumented Indonesian migrants capsized while on its way to Malaysia.

Authorities have earlier rescued 23 victims involved in the incident.
