KUCHING: The Keluan Hill National Park in Ulu Baram, where the Three Sisters Waterfall is located, may soon be gazetted as a protected area, says Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

The state Deputy Minister for Urban Planning Land Administration and Environment said the Sarawak Forestry Corporation is in the process of preparing the proposal.

The area is about 1,619ha with eight villages, Bernama reported.

Len Talif said several assessment exercises were conducted last year to evaluate biodiversity resources in the proposed area.

“Initial findings recorded no fewer than 66 species of fauna and 142 species of flora, indicating that the area is rich in biodiversity.

“The proposed area is still undergoing verification of land status and the gazettement proposal is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026 once the proposed boundaries are finalised,” he said when replying to a question from Datuk Dennis Ngau (GPS-Telang Usan) during the state assembly meeting yesterday.
