KOTA KINABALU: Three assistant enforcement officials were arrested for allegedly receiving bribes amounting to RM10,000 as inducement not to take action against a company lorry for some traffic offences in the city.

According to sources, the three men in their 30s were nabbed between 4pm and 7pm Tuesday (May 12) after giving their statements at the Sabah Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here.

It is learnt that the three suspects had worked together to commit the offence between January 2023 up to October 2024, the source said.

“All of them are believed to have received bribes in forms of cash at RM500 per month via online transfer to a third party’s personal bank account,” said the source.

Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said that the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 for corporate liability.
