Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in nine states until 3pm


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in several areas across nine states until 3pm on Tuesday (May 12), according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a weather warning issued at noon, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Kedah are Langkawi, Sik and Baling, while in Penang, the warning covers the Barat Daya and Timur Laut districts.

In Perak, the affected areas are Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak and Batang Padang.

Similar weather conditions are forecast for Jeli in Kelantan, Cameron Highlands in Pahang, and Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Klang in Selangor.

In Johor, the warning covers Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru, while in Sarawak, the affected area is Miri.

In Sabah, the warning covers Nabawan in the Interior division, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran in the West Coast, as well as Tawau, Kunak and Semporna in the Tawau division. - Bernama
