MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms in most states until 7pm (May 12)


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several states until 7pm on Tuesday (May 12).

In a statement at 4.20pm on Tuesday, MetMalaysia said the states affected are Kedah (Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu); Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim); Kelantan; Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman); Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin); Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat); the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur; Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor.

It also warned of bad weather in Sarawak affecting areas in Kuching; Betong (Saratok and Kabong); Sarikei; Sibu; Mukah; Bintulu (Tatau); Miri (Subis and Beluru) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the areas affected are the interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), the west coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan) as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan.
