Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in several states until 8pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in several states until 8pm Saturday (May 9).

In a statement released at 4.30pm Saturday, MetMalaysia said that the bad weather is expected to hit Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) and Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan).

Also affected will be Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Mualim), Kelantan (Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), and Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong and Rompin).

In addition, the other states affected are Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Rembau), as well as Mersing in Johor.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Sri Aman, Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan, Julau and Meradong), Sibu, Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song, Kapit and Belaga), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the areas involved will be the Interior, West Coast, Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Tongod) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Kudat) as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan. - Bernama
