ACTRESS Datin Lisa Surihani has gracefully accepted the rejection of her husband Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim’s haj visa appeal, meaning they will not be able to perform the haj together in Mecca this year, Kosmo! reported.

Lisa, 40, said she was not disheartened by the outcome and instead chose to view the matter positively, despite previously hoping to undertake the spiritual journey alongside her husband.

“I am deeply grateful that my Tabung Haji visa appeal was approved. We had hoped to begin this journey together but Yusry’s haj visa appeal was not successful.

“It serves as a reminder that every intention and plan we make is ultimately subject to God’s will.”

Lisa said she was relieved to know that their three children would be under her husband’s care while she performs the haj.

> Three siblings from Pasir Salak in Perak, who were unable to attend school due to poverty, will finally be able to do so, Mingguan Malaysia reported.

This comes after discussions between the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council and the Hilir Perak District Education Office.

Their mother Norhayati Yusop, 44, said two of her children – Nurul Adawiyah Zaharon, 12, and Mohamad Adam Zaharon, nine – had never attended school while her eldest, Mohamad Safuan Azhar, 15, only studied up to Form One.

She said she could no longer afford their education after her husband was imprisoned, adding that she struggled to find work, even as a dishwasher or shop assistant.

“We survive on monthly aid from the Social Welfare Department and Baitulmal.

“The money is used to buy groceries, cover the children’s needs and pay RM150 in rent,” she said.

Mohammad Safuan will continue his studies at SMK Sungai Manik, while Nurul Adawiyah and Mohamad Adam will attend SK Chikus.

> A teenager recently captured public attention for selling balloons of various shapes while dressed in a giraffe costume at Padang Kota in George Town, Sinar Harian reported.

Nurarisya Natasya Mohamad Jasli, 18, ventured into the business about two years ago after completing her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.

“No one forced me to do this job. I enjoy entertaining children and making them happy,” she said.

Nurarisya managed to master the basic techniques of balloon sculpting in less than a month, creating shapes such as guns, swords, hearts, lollipops, butterflies and flowers.

What makes her effort even more meaningful is that she does not set fixed prices for the balloons, instead adopting a voluntary donation concept with no obligation.
