Probe of Ampang surau case done, cops awaiting word from prosecutors


SHAH ALAM: Police say investigations into the 46-year-old man arrested for disobeying the Sultan of Selangor’s order regarding Friday prayers have been completed.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said they are awaiting further instructions from the deputy public prosecutor’s office.

"Investigations so far have found no evidence of external influence or elements linked to the incident.

"The investigation papers have been completed and handed over to the Selangor DPP's office for further action and instructions," he said when asked about the matter on Friday (May 8).

It was reported on April 26 that a local man was arrested in Pandan Indah, Ampang, over a case involving disobedience of the Sultan's order related to the conduct of Friday prayers at Surau Taman Seraya.

The arrest was made at about 3pm after residents and surau committee members lodged a police report over a petition raised in the residential area.
