Malaysian haj pilgrim dies of heart attack, third in 2026 season


MECCA: A 55-year-old Malaysian male haj pilgrim died of a heart attack here on Thursday (May 7).

Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), in a statement, said the deceased, who was from Cheras, Selangor, was pronounced dead at King Abdullah Medical City at 8.01am local time.

According to TH, the deceased had travelled to the Holy Land with his wife and four other family members, and was part of the KT12 group staying at Al Kiswah Hotel.

"His remains were taken to Masjidil Haram for funeral prayers after the Asar prayer before being laid to rest at Al Sharayea Cemetery.

"TH extends its condolences to his family members and prays that they are granted strength in facing this difficult time,” it said.

To date, three Malaysian pilgrims have died in the Holy Land since the start of the 2026 haj season. — Bernama
