AKPS uncovers more than 170 tonnes of e-waste at Port Klang


PETALING JAYA: Nearly 200 tonnes of waste, including e-waste, have been discovered during joint inspections led by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection (AKPS).

Port Klang Entry Control Commander Deputy Comm Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, in a statement Thursday (May 7), said that the discovery was made earlier Thursday during inspections at Port Klang under the ongoing Ops Green Shield-29 joint operation.

A total of 14 containers were inspected with around 172,009kg of e-waste found, alongside other rubbish and scrap materials.

“The total weight of the seized scheduled waste shipments was 192,179kg.

“AKPS will continue inspections on cargo containers suspected of carrying prohibited e-waste. The AKPS will also continue to strengthen controls and enforcement at the country’s entry points to ensure border sovereignty and national interests are always protected,” he said.
