New travel passes target airport workers, civil servants in Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, says Loke

SEPANG: Those working at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the KL International Airport (KLIA) as well as Putrajaya and Cyberjaya can now enjoy cheaper daily commutes following the launch of several monthly travel passes by Express Rail Link.

The passes - MyKLIA Monthly Travel Card (MTC) and the MyPutrajaya MTC - are exclusively targeted for communities working at said airports as well as civil servants working or living in Putrajaya or Cyberjaya.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the cheaper passes were also introduced as part of measures responding to the Middle East crisis.

“We want to encourage public transport use, which indirectly reduces fuel usage.

“It also helps those working in said areas to reduce the use of motor vehicles and fuel as well,” he said when launching the passes at the KLIA Express station at KLIA Terminal 2 here on Tuesday (May 5).

The minister added that the government is not allocating any money to this, with the price difference absorbed by the concessionaire.

“As concessionaires, we encourage them to do their part to improve ridership. Ridership here is also only hovering at about 60%,” he said.

Loke also said the initiative is targeted for a three-month period, and will be continued if there is an encouraging response.

He urged all employers at both KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to register their employees directly with ERL, to ensure eligibility to purchase the MyKLIA MTC pass.

“The registration is to verify that their employees are indeed based here.

“If all companies are on board, there will definitely be a good response for this initiative,” he said.

Here, employees must submit their personal details to their employer, who will send the completed form to MyKLIA@KLIAekspres.com for verification.

Upon verification, a confirmation email with login details and a temporary password will be sent within four working days.

Users can then log in to www.KLIAekspres.com or the KLIA Ekspres mobile app to purchase the MyKLIA MTC reload voucher.

The voucher can then be redeemed using the MyKad at selected travel stations.

As for the MyPutrajaya MTC, eligible civil servants must register their MyKad online via https://mykad.KLIAekspres.com/.

Once verified, they will receive a confirmation email to proceed with the purchase.

After registration approval, users can purchase the MyPutrajaya MTC reload voucher via the ERL website (www.KLIAekspres.com) or the KLIA Ekspres mobile app.

The reload voucher can be redeemed at selected stations based on the chosen route.

Under the MyKLIA MTC the travel routes and prices are as follows:

KLIA T1/T2 - Salak Tinggi (RM150); KLIA T1/T2 - Putrajaya and Cyberjaya (RM150); KLIA T1/T2 - Bandar Tasik Selatan (RM250): and KLIA T1/T2 - KL Sentral (RM250).

Rates and routes for the MyPutrajaya MTC meanwhile, are as follows:

Putrajaya and Cyberjaya - Salak Tinggi (RM75); Putrajaya and Cyberjaya - Bandar Tasik Selatan (RM150); Putrajaya and Cyberjaya - KLIAT1/T2 (RM150) and Putrajaya and Cyberjaya - KL Sentral (RM150).

Only Malaysians are eligible for the purchases.

Both monthly passes are available for purchase up to July 1, and can be renewed after 31-days have lapsed.
