Man nabbed in bid to fill diesel using drums

IPOH: A 46-year-old man in Perak was arrested during an operation after purchasing diesel and filling the fuel in large drums without authorisation, says Datuk Kamaluddin Ismail.

The Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director said that the man was detained during Ops Tiris 4.0 in Kuala Kangsar at about 8am yesterday.

He said the success of the operation was the result of a week-long surveillance into the embezzlement of diesel at petrol stations around Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Siput.

“During inspection, the enforcement officers arrested the individual who was filling diesel into drums on a four-wheel drive vehicle at the petrol station,” he said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

Kamaluddin said four large drums were found in the back of the vehicle, two of which were found to contain 200 litres of diesel.

He said the suspect admitted to buying the diesel but failed to produce any authorisation letter, licence or permit to store controlled goods.

Kamaluddin said the diesel, drums, related documents and a four-wheel drive vehicle worth about RM31,304 were seized.

The case will be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act, he added.
