IGP warns against inflaming situation

KUALA LUMPUR: All parties are to refrain from issuing inflammatory statements that could affect public order amid the ongoing political situation in Negri Sembilan, says Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail (pic).

“I would like to appeal to all parties to remain calm and avoid making unnecessary comments, as the issue involves matters related to adat dan budaya (customs and culture),” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman.

“As a security force, we will continue to ensure that safety and public order in Negri Sembilan are maintained. I also urge all relevant parties not to issue statements that could disrupt efforts to preserve stability.”

Mohd Khalid said several police reports related to 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues had been lodged.

“We will conduct investigations and determine the action.”

On April 19, the four Undang reportedly decided to depose Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir on grounds of misconduct.
