JOHOR BARU: Johor is at the halfway mark of its Maju Johor 2030 agenda and the people should stand united to reach the finish line, says Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
He said the initiative kicked off in 2022 and has shown significant results in developments and investments in the state.
“It is now 2026 and we have four more years to go. The vision is to become a developed state by 2030.
“As such, I appeal to the people - Malays, Chinese, Indians and Orang Asli. Whether we succeed in achieving the vision or not depends on the unity of the Johor people,” he said during a surprise appearance at a dialogue session with about 100 Chinese-based business guilds and non-governmental organisations here on Thursday (April 30).
Onn Hafiz also appealed to the Chinese Malaysian community to help the state government by contributing ideas to improve services to the people.
Meanwhile, state housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, who spent about an hour answering questions from the crowd, said more than 700 participants showed up at the gathering, reflecting their interest in the state’s developments.
“We are in the process of meeting with different communities.
“We have already met groups from the Malay groups recently and now the Chinese community. We will meet with the Indian community soon to obtain their views and address concerns,” he added.
