Works Ministry implementing 242 health projects worth RM21.3bil, says Ahmad Maslan

KUALA PILAH: The Works Ministry has been mandated to implement 242 health facility projects nationwide with a total value of RM21.3bil, says Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan.

He said this comprises 58 completed projects costing RM4.88bil, 57 projects under construction valued at RM7.28bil, and 91 projects in the pre-construction or planning stage worth RM9.14bil.

Ahmad Maslan said the projects, with the ministry acting as the implementing agency, span the 11th Malaysia Plan through to the 13th Malaysia Plan.

He was speaking to reporters after the handover of the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital's additional block, which was officiated by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad on Tuesday (April 28).

Ahmad Maslan said the new block was built on a 4.18-acre site.

He said the land was acquired on March 10 and the project achieved full completion with the issuance of the Certificate of Practical Completion on Monday (April 27).

On projects in Negri Sembilan, he said that under the Ninth to 13th Malaysia Plans, there are 13 projects worth RM1.39bil.

This includes five projects in the planning stage costing RM234mil, seven under construction valued at RM1.1bil, and one completed project worth RM32mil.

Ahmad Maslan said although the additional block is now under the Health Ministry’s control, the contractor must fulfil its obligations during the 24-month defect liability period.

He reminded contractors to carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and respond promptly to complaints or rectify any defects during the period.

He said he hopes the projects will contribute to the well-being of the people. - Bernama
