Student identified in MRSM bullying incident

JASIN: A student at a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) has been identified in connection with a bullying incident in which another student’s clothes were cut and damaged, said Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

He said the MRSM management had submitted a report on the incident, and investigations had been expedited.

"The victim’s family has lodged a report, and the perpetrator has also been identified. After I raised the matter on social media, the management promptly submitted its report.

"There were matters that were not reported to me by the MRSM management, but the lesson learned is that every issue must be taken seriously,” he told reporters after launching the MRSM Tun Ghafar Baba SPM excellence awards ceremony here on Saturday (April 25).

He added that the student involved could face expulsion from MRSM depending on the severity of the case, as bullying involves not only physical acts but also psychological harm.

Previously, a Threads user shared images of her younger sibling’s torn and damaged clothing, believed to be the result of bullying.

The post drew a response from Asyraf Wajdi, who stressed that there would be no compromise on any form of bullying in institutions under Mara and that firm action would be taken against those involved. – Bernama
