BUKIT MERTAJAM: The investigation into the share ownership allegations involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has been concluded and is now awaiting a final decision from the government.
Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said this, adding that the findings have already been presented to the Cabinet.
“As far as I am aware, the investigation regarding the alleged shareholdings has been completed. The subsequent process is currently being handled by the Chief Secretary to the Government (Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu),” Fahmi told a press conference at the Kubang Semang National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi) here on Saturday (April 25).
The probe was originally triggered by international media reports claiming that Azam was alleged to have held millions of shares in a financial services company.
In response, the government established a special committee to scrutinise the claims, with the Public Service Department (JPA) Disciplinary Board recently tasked to deliberate on the committee's findings.
However, Fahmi stressed that the specific details of the investigation cannot be disclosed to the public at this stage to avoid compromising the ongoing administrative process.
He said that the final decision rests with the KSN and that an official announcement will be made at the appropriate time once the procedure is fully finalised.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said a total of 36 2025 SPM student who attended e-Tuisyen Rakyat held at Nadi achieved 7As in the examination.
He said in 2025 over 42,000 Form Five students participated in the programme which were held at almost 1100 NADI in the country.
He expects the numbers of students participating in the programme to increase this year.
