THE Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) has provided a total of RM50,000 in assistance to dialysis patients, Makkal Osai reported.

The aid was part of the board’s welfare initiatives for the Hindu community in Penang, its chairman RSN Rayer said.

PHEB deputy chairman and former Hospital Sg Bakap director Senator Dr RA Lingeshwaran said the aid will alleviate some of the burden of lifelong dialysis.

Each dialysis session can cost between RM150 to RM200.

The PHEB has continued its service to the community and temples in the state, the report said.

This include improvements and upgrading of the Waterfall Hill Temple, the Butterworth Sri Maha Mariamman temple hall and Sri Krishna Kunj Bihari Mandir Temple.

The RM2mil new electric crematorium in Seberang Perai is also expected to be completed his year with the government providing 75% of the funds.
