PETALING JAYA: No Malaysians have been affected by the simultaneous violent incidents in Thailand’s southern border provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat on Saturday (Aug 22) night, says the Foreign Ministry.
It said that the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla are monitoring the situation closely and maintaining close contact with local authorities.

"As of the latest update, there have been no reports of Malaysian nationals affected.
"The ministry will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates if required," it said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 23).
Wisma Putra also urged Malaysians in the affected provinces to exercise heightened caution, as well as those planning to travel to or through Thailand’s southern border provinces.
Thai security forces have stepped up surveillance and imposed temporary curfews in affected areas following the incidents.
"To facilitate timely communication and consular support, Malaysians are also urged to register and regularly update their contact details via the e-Konsular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my," it added.
