KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security (NATSEC) Asia is still a relevant platform for defence cooperation and the relevant stakeholders to meet, says Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin.
The DSA Exhibition and Conference Sdn Bhd chairman said the event, now in its 19th iteration, is a useful avenue for such inclusive discussions and meetings.
"Platforms such as this endure because they remain useful and relevant.
"They continue to provide something serious, something trusted, and something difficult to replicate, and that is a place where governments, armed forces, police and security agencies, and industry leaders can meet with purpose.
"It is also a platform that remains open, balanced, and inclusive in its participation, where countries and companies come together on equal footing," he said in his speech at the opening of the exhibitions on Monday (April 20).
He added that the event’s evolution with the times reflected modern "security conversations" ranging from public protection to future force development.
"This evolution did not happen by accident. It required vision, credibility, and above all, strong and sustained partnership.
"Against a backdrop of evolving global dynamics and shifting geopolitical considerations, this year’s edition has required a measured and adaptive approach.
"While participation patterns have naturally reflected these broader developments, we are encouraged that it has brought together more than 1,456 companies from 63 countries.
"These figures not only reflect a strong and resilient turnout but also reaffirm the continued confidence of the international defence and security community in this platform, as we carry forward our tradition of facilitating high level engagement, business opportunities and meaningful international collaboration," he said.
